For this second type specimen project, we chose a typeface and had to design a specimen that captured various features of it in a method of our own choosing. I decided to create an eight folding zines, each was on a double sided A3 piece of paper. This was then folded into eight sections with the very middle being sliced through for the width of two out of the eight squares, this then allowed me to fold each of the pieces into small books which you could flick through and read, then when you had read all the inside content, you could unfold the book into a poster. The idea behind this concept was to create a physical keepsake for the type foundry who created the typeface but also to create a product they could sell. Each time they created a new typeface they could transform it into a series of zines, even photographic zines showing off the brands they have worked for and with. Below is a few samples of the zines unfolded.
